Welcome home…
Hi friends, it’s me, Heather! Welcome to my corner of the internet, a place that I hope you can call home. This space is designed for YOU. Yes, YOU! Here you will find all the components that have brought me happiness in life, a little thing I like to call my happiness recipe (apparently there is now a book with the same title, however I’ve been using this term for years, so there’s no relation). There are components in everyone’s lives that work together to create an overall happy and health life. Everyone’s recipe is a little different, but the main ingredients can be the same.
There are three main ingredients in my happiness recipe (and ones that I hope can be part of yours too), mental health, spiritual health, and physical health. You’ll find these tabs, along with a couple others as this site grows, that will help you navigate through things I’ve learned along my life’s journey, as well as things that will hopefully help you create your own happiness recipe.
I hope this site can be a place where you can easily access more information on these ingredients 24/7. We live in an extremely fast paced society (which isn’t always great for our well being), and sometimes attending workshops, therapy sessions, and other resources isn’t always convenient. You may also live in an area where these resources aren’t readily accessible to you. We are also constantly bombarded with and endless stream of information, not all of which is true or helpful. A vast quantity of information doesn’t always mean it’s got great quality.
So, who am I and what makes me qualified to serve you? I was born and raised in Nevada and currently serve as a program coordinator for a complete behavioral health clinic. I have been in the mental health field for eighteen years and have been a therapist for over five years. Over the course of my career, I have worked in various settings including residential treatment, private practice, forensic social work, and outpatient treatment. I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Nevada, Reno and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I specialize in DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) and a trauma-based therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I have written several mental health related articles for various mental health magazines and new outlets. My ultimate goal in life is to love others well and to help others heal and live their best lives.
I’m so happy you’re here, and I hope you stick around long enough to invest in yourself and your life!
